9 november; we got hours on you now [Nov. 9th, 2009|12:07 pm]
[Edgar]
A Guy Fawkes to remember, I think, and I hope there is pictorial evidence of you in that sash. However, your wife has affixed this beard to my face. At least it doesn't include the hair, though yours was rather epic. But the beard. Let us hope it is not permanent ... ?

[Edgar & Frank]
I'm meeting with Rookwood tonight at the Kew Garden pagoda. Going to ask Fabian and/or James to accompany me. We should probably release Aludra shortly.

[Fabian & James - Readable by Edgar & Frank]
I'm meeting with Rookwood tonight to discuss our captive situation. I am going in disguise. I would, however, appreciate your company if he tries to get the jump on me. I must stress that I want you unseen and that unless my life is in danger you are not to engage with Rookwood.

[Remus]
So about the books, and about chocolate. Found myself in Geneva over the weekend and I have an overabundance of the stuff. Women with skirts made of arms aside, you and I should have a scholar's evening.

3 november; checking in [Nov. 4th, 2009|03:53 pm]
[Frank]
Croydon, Islington, Wandsworth, Harrow and Lambeth are all sans Alice. Still looking. Going to keep closer to the river. Checking hospitals, parks, with people of unsavoury natures and a few contacts I have maintained over the years.

Chin up. We'll find her.

3 november; our nomenclature is washing away [Nov. 3rd, 2009|11:07 pm]
This was the first year since I was old enough to trick-or-treat that I participated in Halloween outside of the Muggle world. We used to pass out candy at our house, but I guess I got caught up in things ... I was always gone. Brazil, Svalbard, Mongolia ... not exactly places one would imagine hospitable to children dressing in costumes, begging for candy.

Mexico, however, has an interesting tradition. El Día de los Muertos celebrates the lives of family members gone before the living. Of course, Brazil has Dia de Finados (so we can't leave them out) but I think the focus on the family unit is a very important thing. And of course there is candy. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts.

Many scholars trace these traditions to an ancient Aztec goddess named Mictecacihuatl, whose duty it was to guard the bones of the dead.

Mictecacihuatl, please watch over our loved ones, both living and dead, those in our arms and those who have been taken from us by other means. It is in us that they go on and we will not forget them. We will wait until they return.

6 october; i hear the shadowy horses [Oct. 6th, 2009|09:39 am]
King Minos's labyrinth was surely a maze far surpassing the skill of one annoying boy and a very nice girl with a spindle of thread. I, however, did not have a minotaur with which to contend.

[Private]
The keystones are all retrieved and my duty, as far as it has ever extended, is done. Perhaps Albus was right when he exhorted me to follow this path. I feel some sense of rightness in it. I am doing what my girls would have wanted. And, truly, what else is there? Home, teaching, forgetting myself, all while my world is slowly worn away. I cannot hide in ignorance anymore.

[Frank]
I've returned - I still live in Mecklenburgh Square - let me know what's happening, alright? And I'm sorry about your dad.

Caradoc Dearborn. [Oct. 3rd, 2009|03:51 pm]
Babylon violated diminishes Alexander; Rome enslaved diminishes Caesar; massacred Jerusalem diminishes Titus. Tyranny follows the tyrant. Woe to the man who leaves behind a shadow that bears his form. )
